Zirconium Bars and Rods usually contain 99.2% pure zirconium, with minimal hafnium (<2%). The material shows great resistance to corrosion from acids and alkalis. Mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 330 MPa, yield strength of 230 MPa, and elongation of 16–30%, depending on processing. Zirconium maintains its strength at high temperatures and has a high melting point (~1855°C), making it suitable for demanding applications. Its low neutron-capture cross-section also makes it important in nuclear applications.
