Hastelloy W is a nickel-based alloy that mainly consists of nickel (around 65%) and molybdenum (about 26–30%), along with some iron, chromium, and cobalt. This alloy is specifically engineered for weldable high-temperature applications, particularly in aerospace and nuclear reactors. It boasts excellent thermal stability, low hardness when annealed, and good ductility. With a tensile strength of approximately 750 MPa and an elongation exceeding 30%, it’s perfect for pressure-retaining components. Plus, it shows minimal cracking in the heat-affected zone, making it ideal for multi-pass welding under thermal stress.
